Joshua is 25!

It isn't news to many these days; yes, my husband is younger than me. This weekend, today actually, is Josh's birthday! He is 25 years old. To start off the weekend we had a barbeque with my side of the family and some friends from out of town. I used my new pressure cooker to make some bbq pulled pork, I put the Traeger to work, per-usual, with burgers, reindeer dogs and corn on the cob. My sisters, mom, grandma and others finished off the menu with potato salad, hot macaroni and bacon salad, spinach salad (my husband is going to say "really? That's what you chose to put a picture of?") and fruit salad! We had way too much delicious food, but what's new? The kids ran around and played, the "grown-up's" ate, drank and drank some more while opening presents, eating cake, playing corn-hole and finishing the night off with a few rounds of Quiplash and Fibbage. Saturday we took the kids to our favorite place to get away, Girdwood. We stayed the night at the hotel, went swimming, had some bomb pizza at Chair 5 and took a tram ride before heading home. Today Josh is golfing with friends, and looking super handsome. How did I get so lucky to be married to this man? Tomorrow were off to another birthday dinner with the rest of the family at Sullivan's and the next day, to the Luke Bryan concert... oh I love birthday season :)

Sunday in Talkeetna

My husband works A-LOT in the summer time. Days off are hard to come by, and when he does have them we have a mile long list of things we need to get done. But this past weekend we ignored all of those nagging responsibilities of adulting, jumped in the suburban and headed to Talkeetna for the day. Lunch at Latitude 62 was amazing. They make an awesome burger and we tried the Kenai Brewing Company's IPA. It was "life" as my 7 year old niece would say. Then we walked through town checking out all the local shops and sampled the homemade ice-cream. After a wonderful day of exploring we headed back to Palmer, but not without grabbing a peanut butter milk shake from Little Miller's on the way. I love days like this.
